My Training

I am lucky enough to have always known I wanted to be a doctor. On my first day of my medical student rotation through obstetrics at Monash Health I was rostered to birth suite and witnessed a young woman become a mother. End of story.

I did my internship through Monash Health so I could stay close to the maternity service, and I applied to the College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology in the same year.

The majority of my training was in the tertiary unit of Monash Health, with rotations to Box Hill, Frankston and Launceston. I was fortunate enough to spend 12 months working overseas in Ireland where I gained an enormous amount of experience as the senior trainee in a busy unit.

I have been providing private obstetric care since 2005 and have assisted in the birth of over 3500 babies.

My Role at Cabrini

I started in a new position as the Director of Maternity Services with a focus on governance & quality in February 2014.

Over the following 6 months I moved my practice from Monash Health and suddenly I had an extra 90 minutes in everyday. I can walk to work, and walk home for lunch. Being based at one hospital and living locally provides me with the work life balance that I need to be on call 24 hours a day 5-7 days per week.

Personal

My husband and I have two beautiful boys (normal births). I am now the shortest member of our family.

As a family we love to read, cook, eat, hike and travel. We love to be in or near the ocean.

I really love my job. From time to time it takes me away from my boys, and I have missed football games, camping trips, parties and plays. They get to see how much pleasure my work brings me and (most of the time) that makes it ok.
